Family Council

The Kids’ First Years Family Council is a group of parent leaders who work to ensure the perspectives of families are represented in decision-making.

The Family Council works to include the voices of families at different tables. Our members attend community roundtables and support local leaders. The Family Council is a diverse body and has unique viewpoints of early care and education in our community.

Additionally, members provide insights on municipal initiatives and proposals, drawing from their experiences as parents and caregivers. The Family Council also acts as advocates for the community’s needs and facilitate connections to resources and support.

2024 – 2025 Family Council Focus Areas

  • Improve enrollment and communication for early care and education services
  • Spread awareness about resources in the community that are supporting families with younger children.
  • Support for families needing early intervention services
  • Aftercare and summer programs for children 3 to 5
